Content Management Systems
Content Management Systems (CMSs) are online tools that allow you manage the content and functionality of your website. The files that make up a CMS are found on the web server and typically use some form of database and scripting language. You don’t really need to know much else except that we’ve seen and worked with many different CMSs since 1996 and our choice of CMSs is based on that experience. Our CMSs of choice are WordPress and Joomla. Each one has its own characteristics that make it well suited for a certain type of use and client. Call us to discuss your project and whether or not one of these would be suitable. You can even take a test drive.
WordPress
WordPress is well known as a blog application, but we often use it as an entry level CMS. While it was originally intended as a blog, that’s a small part of what this popular and well established publishing engine has to offer. WordPress is great for organizations that need a simple but very functional way to maintain their own website. The interface is very intuitive and straightforward to use.
Joomla!
We first looked at Joomla! after it was released in the fall of 2005. We watched as it earned rapid popularity. With many robust and flexible options, it’s clear Joomla! has stepped into a new level of functionality and community support, and we’re happy to add it to our tool kit. Joomla! is a great fit for organizations with a lot of content and the ability to work with a more advanced administrative interface.
