PubCon Las Vegas 2010

by admin on June 3, 2010

Most of my presentations and speaking engagements are here in Vermont. But there’s one that isn’t. The one speaking engagement outside of Vermont that I love to do is in Las Vegas: PubCon!

It’s been about 3 years since I presented in Las Vegas and my last presentation went horrible. There was an early snow storm that delayed my flight. A two hour drive to the airport turned into 4 hours. And unbeknown to me I was coming down with the flu which took hold of me over the course of the next 3 days before I was to present. Imagine standing at a podium trying very hard to stay awake and keep from coughing while presenting a very dry presentation that I knew was dry but couldn’t for the life of me spice it up. The few brave souls that attended the presentation were saints and my friends over at Magnifisites were among them (thank you Todd & Marcie). Since then I’ve been super busy – and feeling rather gun shy – which is part of the reason I haven’t attended PubCon in the past 2 years. But I was reminded of all the people I haven’t seen and chatted with plus I’ve learned a bunch of new and useful information that I want to share. So I’ll be in Las Vegas this November and presenting at PubCon!
Gregg Banse will be speaking at PubCon Las Vegas 2010

This year’s presentation will be on Content Management Systems (CMSs). I’ll be putting together a panel of 6-7 experts with various CMSs. I’ll speak about WordPress and the other likely CMSs will be Joomla, SilverStripe, Expression Engine, Drupal, ModX. Feel free to suggest one for us to include. The whole point of this presentation is to help newcomers to one or more of these CMSs compare them apples to apples. Experienced developers will provide a primer/demonstration of their chosen CMS and talk about the pros & cons. These developers actually build websites with these tools,so they know them intimately. There will be a question and answer session after the presentations with plenty of time for follow up at one or more of the social gatherings after the presentation day is done.

If you’d like to learn from some of the best in the online business then PubCon is a must. And of course, I’ll be presenting and would love to see you.
