Website Development
Our Publishing Platform is robust which comes fully loaded right out of the box. I typically use WordPress for my work. If you need a special ability, there’s a good chance it exists in the form of a plugin – or module that can easily be installed. Or I can provide you with a custom solution.
Add & Edit Pages: Manage these yourself anytime you wish. Upload images and make these changes using the WYSIWYG editors. Photos are re-sized automatically by the system for use in 3 convenient sizes.
User Management: Out of the box you have a handful of user permissions for your staff. If you want to create a community website, that can be done and you’ll gain the benefit of a few more key user levels that allow your community to upload content, images, and documents and interact with each other.
Media Library: The media libraries are places where your images and documents like PDFs and PowerPoint presentations are uploaded to the CMS and stored. Once the file is uploaded you can insert it within a web page (an image for example) or link to it so your visitors can click to download and view it (PDFs & other files).
Portable: I understand your needs may change and that you may want to move onto another service (a rarity but it happens). SO I make it point not to hold you back. My websites are portable – you can move your entire CMS, the database, and all your images anywhere you’d like. Since I setup the analytic accounts in your name, they’re all ready for the move.
Analytics: Iset you up with an analytics account that has robust features and a ton of information for you to peruse. I’ll give you the basics on what to look at and how to interpret what you’re reading. You can learn a lot from a bunch of numbers – especially when they’re in fancy charts and graphs.
Extensibility: Like I said, these systems have a lot of options without modifications. But I know some people just have to have it their way. Luckily these systems have many add-on options provided by the active community of developers and the larger communities that keep them up to date and useful.
Data Feeds: Spread the word every time you publish a blog post or add a new page to your website. Data feeds disseminate your data to the data distribution networks and anyone interested in your subject, or watching your industry using a RSS reader will see it. And not only do people read these feeds but the search engines watch them too.
eCommerce: From full transaction shopping catalogs and carts to quick n’ dirty PayPal solutions, we have the right solution to match your needs.
Blogs: Sit down to the keyboard and let your inner James Joyce come through. Write up the company news, announce product releases, plea for grant monies, whatever your need, the blog can be used very effectively to elicit action.
Templates & Themes: Oh there are so many options. Our publishing platforms use templates (aka: themes) that provide the pretty face. The core of the platform is all code (not very pretty) and when it needs to be updated it’s much easier when the visual code is out of the picture (pun intended). Seriously though, the separation helps us do what we do and makes it much easier to create Picassos.
jQuery Tools: Every developer has their favorite code library (not books but blocks of super useful code) they use in their projects. We tend to favor jQuery but not always. jQuery tools allow us to offer functionality that would normally take days or weeks to write – in a fraction of the time.
Calendars: Calendars are an example of something that many organizations need. There are so many options. Integrate your Google Calendar, use a module that has mini-calendar in the sidebar, use a pop-up calendar. Tell us what you want!
Mobile Ready: All of our sites come mobile ready. If you want it prettied up especially for mobile devices, I can do that too. Make no mistake, mobile is happening whether you have a smart phone or not. Even some old static HTML sites we maintain have mobile traffic on them!
Social Media Tools: Would you like to make it easy for your visitors to Tweet about your product profile? Maybe you’d like them to email a friend a copy of your latest blog post. There are several options for integrating Social Media tools into your website to make it easier for your evangelists to spread the word about you.
